The string theory community in India is initiating an annual activity in
the form of an interactive workshop. The objective is to have a gathering
in an atmosphere which will stimulate the expression and elaboration of
new ideas. This year the workshop will be held at the Harish-Chandra
Research Institute (HRI), Allahabad, during December 12 -- 21, 2002.
The format of the workshop will consist of a few broad survey talks in
addition to seminars. The survey talks will be meant to lead onto focussed
discussion sessions.
